Plasma, Cave Drawings and Auroras

I'm going to go way off track here to tell you about something I hope you will find very interesting. I believe something important is unfolding but there is a lot of information to tie together so this is just the first part, and I will write more later.

Plasma

First I have to talk about plasma. Our world consists almost completely of solids, liquids and gases. However, 99% of the universe is plasma. Plasma is the 4th state of matter.  The transition from gas to plasma occurs through ionization of the gas particles.

It is the Earth's magnetic field that insulates our atmosphere, separating the inhospitable plasma environment of interplanetary space from our own home.

The magnetic field's protection is weakest at the North and South Poles, and occasionally allows plasma to leak into our atmosphere resulting in the beautiful Northern and Southern Lights, or auroras.

Lightning and solar flares are other examples of plasma.

Cave Drawings

Anthony Peratt is a plasma physicist working at Los Alamos National Laboratory. In his paper Characteristics for the Occurrence of a High-Current, Z-Pinch Aurora as Recorded in Antiquity [IEEE Transactions on Plasma Science, Vol. 31, No. 6, Dec 2003], Peratt notes similarities among cave drawings from all over the world. For example, Figure 14:

The drawings in Peratt's study are believed to have been made between 10,000 to 2000BC. Given the disparity of locations, the resemblance of the drawings is itself remarkable, but even more importantly, Peratt recognized these shapes from his own laboratory work on plasma.

There are many examples like this. Here is another:

Peratt explains that such phenomena could only have occurred within the Earth's atmosphere if the solar wind had increased by one or two orders of magnitude.

Nuremberg, Germany UFO Battle

Such sightings are not limited to antiquity. On April 14, 1561, the citizens of Nuremberg, Germany, woke up to what they described as a UFO battle over their city. Bright shapes in the sky appeared to be battling each other. The event was recorded by Hans Glaser on a woodcut.

Could this have been a leaking of plasma into the atmosphere due to a strong solar flare? The long tubes for example look like Peratt's plasma column experiments, with possible corresponding petroglyphs shown below.

Weakening Magnetic Field

Scientific studies show that the Earth's protective magnetic shield is weakening. According to Wikipedia, "At present, the overall geomagnetic field is becoming weaker; the present strong deterioration corresponds to a 10–15% decline over the last 150 years and has accelerated in the past several years; geomagnetic intensity has declined almost continuously from a maximum 35% above the modern value achieved approximately 2,000 years ago." [Emphasis added.]

Is this trend leading to something important?

Recently much of the Northern Hemisphere has been treated to some amazing auroral shows. These should increase as the 11-year solar cycle reaches maximum next year, producing even stronger solar storms.

Last week's tragic massacre in Colorado draws our attention once again to the Aurora. In terms of symbology, is this an important signal?

There is much more to this story but I will leave it here for now.
